MGM 2049 — Symposium and Global Recruitment Kick-off

MGM 2049 is MGM’s new production for Asia’s first dynamic theatre, led by director Zhang Yimou. On 8 April 2024, MGM held the MGM 2049 Symposium and Global Recruitment Program Kick-off Ceremony for guests in the theatre and for media and audiences following online from Macau, Hong Kong, mainland China and overseas.

Cowise built and ran the event’s registration and live broadcast site in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. Guests registered to attend online, for the opening ceremony, for the symposium or for both, and invited guests could confirm with a personal RSVP code. Each region’s campaign links opened in the right language. On the day, the control room switched every open browser between pre-show, live, standby and closing screens without anyone needing to refresh. The live player offered the original audio alongside English and Mandarin interpretation, and after the event the site carried on as a replay in all three languages.

Expertise

Trilingual registration and RSVP

Registration in English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, with online, ceremony-only, symposium-only and full-programme attendance, personal RSVP codes for invited guests and campaign tracking by region. Admin notifications, invitations and thank-you emails were sent in all three languages.

Remote-controlled show states

A lightweight heartbeat lets the control room move every viewer between countdown, live, break, standby, thank-you and replay pages in seconds, with no reload needed.

Live streaming with interpretation

1080p HLS streams with the original audio plus English and Mandarin interpretation channels, which viewers can switch from the player. The player retries automatically and falls back to a second stream source if the first one fails.

Replay on demand

After the event, the same site served the full recording in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, so latecomers and media could catch up.
