Media registration with QR tracking
Unique QR codes for Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China media tracked where each registration came from and set the matching language. A spare code was used for VIP invitations.
MGM introduced its lion-dance IP 《醒獅美高梅》 at a hybrid press conference on 10 May 2021. The run of show included a video on MGM’s contributions to culture and the arts, a conversation with the lead performers and director, the unveiling of a giant lion and a live performance excerpt. With media spread across Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China, the conference had to work just as well online as in the room.
Cowise built the press conference mini-site at mgmpc.occasionspr.com and ran it end to end. Separate QR codes for Hong Kong, Macau and mainland media tracked where each journalist registered from, and set the default language to Traditional or Simplified Chinese. Registered media received a reminder eDM the day before. On the day, the site moved on schedule from a countdown to the live broadcast and then to a closing screen, with the press release and photo album to download. A host console let the MC choose media questions from the pool and pass the selected ones to the speaker’s screen.

An automated reminder went to every registered journalist the day before, sent from a dedicated press-conference address, with their regional QR code and link.
The site switched automatically from countdown to pre-show, live broadcast and post-event screens, with the press release and photo album released for download on cue.
Media submitted questions online. The MC picked questions from the pool on a host console, the chosen ones appeared on the speaker’s tablet, and all questions were exported for MGM after the event.
